Donahue Hired To Frostburg’s Athletic Training Staff

Frostburg State director of athletics Troy A. Dell has announced the hiring of Cassie Donahue as an assistant athletic trainer for the 2015-16 athletic year.

Donahue is reunited with the Bobcat athletic training staff after serving as a student assistant from 2008-12 and an assistant athletic trainer in 2012-13.

Last year, Donahue served as an assistant athletic trainer at Ferrum College in Ferrum, Va. She covered the men’s and women’s soccer, wrestling and women’s lacrosse teams. She also served as an adjunct professor (Intro to Muscular Fitness), assisted with insurance for student-athletes, scheduled work-study students and developed strength and conditioning programs for various athletic teams.

Prior to Ferrum, Donahue was the head athletic trainer at Penn State Fayette while serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at California Univ. of Pa. She covered women’s volleyball, cross country, men’s and women’s basketball, wrestling, softball and baseball. She was the administrator for ImPACT testing, managed the office budget and served as the head athletic trainer for the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Basketball National Championships.

Donahue earned her bachelor’s degree from Frostburg State in athletic training in May 2012 and her master’s in athletic training from California (Pa.) in May ’14. Donahue was also a standout women’s soccer player during her four years at Frostburg, helping the Bobcats to 68 wins, including three appearances in the ECAC Tournament and one appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

As an assistant athletic trainer at FSU in 2012-13, she covered the men’s basketball, softball, women’s lacrosse and women’s soccer teams.

Donahue has additional athletic training experience with Frostburg soccer camps (2010-11), Frederick soccer camps (2010-11), the Alhambra Catholic Invitational Basketball Tournament (2010-12), Coach Wootten Basketball Camp (2010), Concussion Awareness Presentation for Referees (2012-13) and a 2015 NATA Thesis Research Presentation.

Donahue is a member of the Eastern Athletic Trainers Association, a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer and a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA). She received her Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) certification while at California (Pa.).
