Olivet College tabs Shockey as interim AD

Ryan Shockey has been named the Interim Athletic Director at Olivet College.

The announcement comes after the school terminated the contracts of former Athletic Director David Sichterman and Assistant Athletic Director Korey Heppeard on July 10.

“Ryan has a strong background in intercollegiate athletics, and is highly regarded by our athletic staff, student-athletes and other members of our campus community,” Olivet College President Steven M. Corey, Ph.D said in a release. “Ryan agreed to serve in this interim capacity for the next several months, holding the primary responsibility of athletic department leadership. He will work closely with me and the athletic coaching staff preparing the college for our search for a regular appointment.”

Shockey joined the Comet staff in 2013 as head athletic trainer, and will continue to serve in that capacity. Prior to Olivet, he was head athletic trainer at Trine University (Ind.) for six years. Shockey worked primarily with the football, indoor track and baseball teams, while coordinating supervision and coverage for all varsity and junior varsity teams. Shockey began his career as a graduate assistant in Trine’s athletic training department during the 2006-07 academic year.

Shockey lives in Angola, Ind. with his wife and their three daughters.
