Towel drive held in honor of former vol athletic trainer

Vol fans got the chance to cheer on U-T while giving back to the community all with towels. U-T’s Minster Council handed out Vol towels for donations to benefit the Second Harvest Food bank on Saturday.

This drive also honors a man who made a major impact on the University’s football program.

Tim Kerin came to U-T in 1976 as the Head Athletic Trainer. He was honored as Trainer of the Year in 19-92, then elected posthumously into The National Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame a year later.

Taylor Boyer, a volunteer at Saturdays event, said the drive really shows the Volunteer spirit.

“It’s just been so great to see everybody and their reaction, how generous they are towards Second Harvest and helping the Knoxville community” said Boyer.

Organizers said most of the 75-hundred towels sold out before the start of Saturdays game.
