Arkansas Athletic Training Students Win Spot in National Quiz Bowl

Two teams of University of Arkansas graduate students placed first and second in the District 6 Quiz Bowl of the National Athletic Trainers Association competition on Jan. 29.

The team that won first place will represent District 6 at the national competition in June.

Second-year master’s students studying in theathletic training education program in the College of Education and Health Professions attended the District 6 competition at Texas State University at San Marcos, Texas. District 6 includes programs in Arkansas and Texas.

The victory for the first place team includes funds to pay expenses to attend the national conference in Baltimore.

The first-place team was made up of Meghan Barrington, Aleena Kanner and Jordan Williams. The second-place team was made up of Cody Lemmons, Jon Melia and Tracey Opoku.

The students were asked questions on topics that will be covered on their national Board of Certification exams. They included injury prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation, emergency procedures, administration and regulations.
