Brewster Promoted at Michigan Tech

Michigan Tech is announcing that long-time athletic trainer Brian Brewster has been hired as Michigan Tech’s assistant athletic director for sports medicine and performance.

Brewster has worked for UP Health System as the coordinator of sports medicine for the last nine seasons. He began his tenure at UP Health System – Portage working with Huskies athletics in 2005.

Brewster’s new role will remain largely the same, with added responsibilities for oversight of strength and conditioning. He will also be the liaison working to continue the positive relationship between Michigan Tech and UP Health System.

“Brian has tremendous knowledge and a gift for working with student-athletes to prepare them for competition and help them return to play,” said Michigan Tech athletic director Suzanne Sanregret. “By having him as a university employee, he can keep the health and welfare of our student-athletes as his top priority.

“The approach of combining sports medicine and performance will provide our student-athletes with comprehensive health and wellness service. By taking a holistic approach and having strength and conditioning, nutrition, and athletic training personnel working together, we hope to reduce and prevent injuries.”

Brewster will work with all Tech athletic programs and continue to be the primary athletic trainer for the hockey team. He will also serve as an instructor in the University’s Kinesiology and Integrated Physiology Department.
