The Athletic Department has appointed Theresa (Terri) Acosta as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Bearcats’ 13-sport NCAA Division III program.

Acosta comes to Baruch with solid credentials after previously working for Whittier College, the WNBA’s Detroit Shock, the University of Detroit Mercy, her alma mater the University of North Texas, and locally for John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

She has also worked in the private sector for Harris Health Trends, Inc. Rehabilitative Service at General Motors, Occupational Athletics, Inc., and Canine Canteen LLC.

“We are very excited after a national search to appoint Theresa to Head Athletic Trainer,” said Director of Athletics Heather MacCulloch. “She has vast experience in our CUNY Athletic Conference and will hit the ground running to service our student-athletes.”

Acosta is no stranger to the CUNYAC community as she served as the Head Athletic Trainer for CUNYAC’s Goodwill Tour in 2006 to South Africa.

She also holds international experience as athletic trainer for the Federation of Futsal (Indoor Soccer Independent League) in Mexico City and the Sports Federation Missions (Basketball & Volleyball) in Taiwan.

“I am excited to be returning to CUNY Athletics and looking forward to assisting the student athletes at Baruch College as they pursue their dreams of bringing home championships,” said Acosta. “I want to thank Heather MacCulloch and Baruch College for the opportunity.”

Acosta graduated in 1999 from the University of North Texas with a major in Kinesiology and a minor in Health. She also earned her Masters of Science Degree in Kinesiology in 2001 at North Texas.
