The SDC Athletic Department is pleased to announce Carolyn Peters as the new Athletic Director for SDC Athletics, effective immediately. Previous Interim Athletic Director, Josh Westermann, will remain his duties as the head men’s and women’s soccer coach.

Peters has been the head athletic trainer and strength coach for the past four years for the Hawks.

In addition to her roles at SDC, Carolyn works as an ATC Spotter for the NFL, teaches courses at San Diego State University and Grossmont College and is on the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Directors representing District 8.
Previously, Peters was an Athletic Trainer at San Diego State University for 21 years providing care for all 19 sports at some point in her career. During her time on the Mesa she also advised the Future Athletic Trainers Society (a student organization) and was an active Preceptor in the Athletic Training Education Program.

Prior to her time as Athletic Trainer, she was an assistant strength coach at SDSU where she primarily worked with football, basketball, and volleyball.
Peters was a dual athlete playing both basketball and track and field at San Diego State while completing her
athletic training internship. As a shot putter, she won the Western Athletic Conference title her senior year and was voted MVP for the field events.

She received both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts Degrees from San Diego State University.

Minton replaces previous volleyball coach, Barb Wnek, who stepped down from her position on March 1. Minton was the Associate Head Coach for SDC this past season.
