The Bethany College Department of Athletics announces the hiring of Lauren Jordan M.S., MAT, ATC, as the new head athletic trainer for the Swedes.

“Lauren has a strong educational background and depth of experience that will set her up for success at Bethany College,” Dean of Athletics and Student Development, Dane Pavlovich said. “It was very evident throughout her application and interview process that Lauren was the clear choice to work with our athletics department.”

Jordan comes to Bethany after finishing her education at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. There, she earned her Masters of Athletic Training, while working in several different roles as a TTUHSC graduate athletic training student.

Jordan worked for the track and field and cross country teams at South Plains College where she carried out various responsibilities associated with NJCAA athletics, evaluated and treated athletes, supervised and taught athletic training students, and did the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the athletic training facilities. She worked at Lubbock Sports Rehab where she collaborated with the clinic staff to treat patients. This treatment type ranged from wound care to end-stage rehab. Finally, Jordan worked for South Plains College to execute host athletic training duties for the NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field National meet.

In addition to this clinical work, Jordan has also been a student presenter at the West Texas Sports Medicine Society Inaugural Symposium in 2017 and worked the Buffalo Springs Ironman in 2014, 2015, and 2016. Jordan also assisted medical personnel in the clinical evaluation and classification of athletes at the Paralympic Swimming Technical Classifier, as well as working with an Olympic Opportunity Grant where she worked with wounded, ill, and injured military individuals, teaching them adaptive sports.

Along with her Masters of Athletic Training, Jordan earned an M.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Adapted Physical Activity from Texas Women’s University in 2013. Jordan did her undergraduate coursework at Oklahoma Baptist University where she graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Pre-Allied Health with an emphasis in rehab, earning a minor in Biology.

“I am excited to begin this new chapter in my professional career working with a talented group of athletes, coaches, and educators,” Jordan said. “I plan to be supportive of my athletes both on the court and field, as well as the classroom and community of Lindsborg. This position will provide me the opportunity that I have been seeking to have a positive impact on student-athletes and I look forward to working with everyone.”
