Steingiser and Korjeski Hired at Keystone College

Keystone College has rounded out its athletic training staff by hiring Allison Steingiser andTaylir Korjeski according to an announcement made recently by Dr. Matthew Grimaldi, Director of Athletics.  Steingiser, a University of Connecticut graduate, will be the Giants’ new head athletic trainer while Korjeski, a Penn State graduate, joins Keystone as the assistant athletic trainer.

Steingiser and Korjeski will oversee the athletic training needs of Keystone’s 20 varsity sports and oversee the individual needs of the Giants’ 300-plus student-athletes as well as those from visiting teams.  Keystone also works with Geisinger Sports Medicine on an as-needed basis.

Allison Steingiser MS, ATC

Steingiser, a graduate of the University of Connecticut, will lead the Giants’ athletic training staff after most recently working as an assistant athletic trainer at Division I Wagner College.

As an assistant athletic trainer at Wagner last season, Steingiser covered practices, games, and camps for all sports including the Seahawks’ football team.  She also traveled with the college’s women’s soccer and baseball teams and was responsible for on-field and off-field assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for all injuries.

Prior to her appointment at Wagner, Steingiser worked as a certified head athletic trainer for Glastonbury High School through Hartford Hospital Rehabilitation Network in Glastonbury, Connecticut from 2011-2015 where she was responsible for overseeing the needs of 60 teams in 34 sports.  Steingiser developed a new injury tracking system for the school and helped rewrite the company’s concussion policy while developing and running the network’s concussion clinic.

Steingiser covered USA Gymnastics’ VISA Championships and presented at the National AAPM&R Conference in Baltimore, Maryland while also attending monthly ATC, EATA, and BIAC meetings.  She also was a first aid, CPR, and AED instructor for both hospital employees and high school coaches.

For the past six summers, Steingiser has been the head athletic trainer for the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod Baseball League in Brewster, Massachusetts where she set up athletic training policies and procedures, made emergency action plans, enlisted a new team doctor, and supervised eight athletic training student interns.

In addition to working on a per diem basis with the University of Hartford, Steingiser worked with multiple athletic programs in the University of Connecticut’s Athletic Training Education Program including with the University of Hartford’s men’s lacrosse team, the University of Connecticut’s football team, and several area high schools and academies.  She has also worked at various community and state tournaments and other events including the 2011 Boston Marathon.

A life guard and swim instructor for 10 years with the Glastonbury Parks and Recreation Department, Steingiser is certified in First Aid, CPR, AED, is a licensed ATC, a NATA, BOC certified athletic trainer, and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, the Connecticut Athletic Trainers Association, and the New England Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine.

Steingiser earned her Master of Science degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion with a concentration in Sport Psychology from the California University of Pennsylvania in 2013 after obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from the University of Connecticut in 2011.

Taylir Korjeski LAT, ATC

Korjeski, a graduate of Penn State University, joins the Giants’ athletic training staff after working as a certified athletic trainer for the past three years at a pair of large high schools in the Lehigh Valley.

Prior to coming to Keystone, Korjeski worked for three major hospital networks in the Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, and Lehigh Valley areas.  Since July, she has been a certified athletic trainer for the St. Luke’s University Health Network, providing medical coverage for more than 20 sports at Freedom High School.  From August 2013-July 2016, Korjeski was an athletic trainer for Moravian Academy through Coordinated Health and covered 25 varsity and junior high sports.

Korjeski was previously a certified athletic trainer with Sprint Physical Therapy and the Geisinger Health System where she worked as a physician extender in the Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Department. She also provided coverage for more than 25 sports with the nearby Lake-Lehman School District.

While matriculating at Penn State, Korjeski worked closely with several of the Nittany Lions’ Division I programs as an athletic training student including track & field, women’s basketball, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s gymnastics, and the university’s intramurals program.

Korjeski, who also assisted State College Area High School as an athletic training student through the University Orthopedics Center, has worked at various events including with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, Stellar “Catch a Rising Star” Basketball Showcases, and the Pittsburgh Marathon.

Korjeski, a certified BOC Athletic Trainer, is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers’ Association. She is also an American Red Cross BLS Instructor and a Certified Level I Spider Tech™ Therapist.

Active in the community, Korjeski has been instrumental in several notable charitable projects including the Penn State IFC/Pan-Hellenic Dance Marathon, also known as THON, which is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world.  She also has participated in Lauren’s First and Goal Football Camp and Simon’s Fund Heart Screening.

Korjeski, who elected as the student marshal for athletic training by the Department of Kinesiology and was a teaching assistant for several Kinesiology classes, earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Penn State University in May of 2011, graduating first in the athletic training program class.
