Dehmer Added to Minnesota Crookston Staff

The University of Minnesota Crookston athletic department announced the hiring of Amy Dehmer as assistant athletic trainer. Dehmer comes to UMC from the College of St. Scholastica where she was a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the past two seasons. Dehmer will work with the football and men’s basketball teams at UMC, while also assisting with the Golden Eagles nine other intercollegiate athletic programs.

“We are excited to add Amy to the UMC staff as an assistant athletic trainer,” said Director of AthleticsStephanie Helgeson. “She comes from a great pedigree at St. Scholastica which has helped produce both Steven and Megan, our two other athletic trainers on staff. She has great experience working with UMD football, as well as several athletic programs at St. Scholastica, and we are excited to have her join the Golden Eagle family.”

Dehmer had several assignments while pursuing her Master of Science in Athletic Training from St. Scholastica. She worked with the University of Minnesota Duluth football team during the Spring and Fall of 2015. In addition, she worked with men’s and women’s soccer and men’s and women’s track and field at St. Scholastica. She also worked with the hockey, basketball and indoor track teams at the University of Wisconsin Superior.

The Osceloa, Wis., native also attended College of St. Scholastica for her undergraduate studies, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in December of 2013. In addition to working with athletic teams, Dehmer also has clinical experience with Essentia Health and St. Luke’s Hospital.

She is certified by the National Athletic Trainer Association-Board of Certification. Dehmer is CPR/AED Certified for Professional Rescuer through the American Red Cross. In addition, she is First Aid Certified and Blood Borne Pathogen Certified through the American Red Cross. She is also Airway Management Certified through the American Red Cross and has Graston Module 1 Certification.

In addition to her work as a graduate assistant, she has also volunteered at the Grandma’s Marathon, the Swanny 5k, the Spartan Wrestling Invitational and the Ashland Gymnastics and Wrestling Meet.

Dehmer joins Krouse and Rinke on staff. Krouse will cover soccer, women’s basketball and softball, while Rinke will cover volleyball and baseball. All three trainers will help oversee the athletic training needs of the men’s and women’s golf programs, tennis and equestrian programs.
