Angela Weatherly has been named Assistant Athletic Trainer at Belmont Abbey College, Head Athletic Trainer Adam Smith announced of today. She started her duties, which include working with the field hockey, softball and developmental basketball teams, on August 1

“I am honored and excited to be a part of the athletic department here at Belmont Abbey.” Weatherly said. “I personally want to thank Adam Smith for the incredible opportunity to partake in sharing and practicing the mission of Belmont Abbey through doing what I love, Sports Medicine. I am so excited to be a part of a like-minded team, which has already blessed me in an enormous way.”

Weatherly graduated from Erskine in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training. She had a double minor in biology and health while assisting with the men’s basketball program. She spent the next two years as a graduate assistant at Liberty University, earning a master’s degree in public health with an emphasis on health promotion. In her time in Lynchburg, she was assigned to the sports of women’s soccer, softball, cheerleading, swimming, and golf. She also gained experience in the Sports Dietician program by helping to counsel athletes on nutritional habits.

“I am excited to have Angela on board for the coming school year,” Smith said. “She brings a wealth of expertise to our staff from her time at Liberty University. Having graduated from Erskine, a conference school, will serve her well as she travels to familiar locations throughout the year. She will be a welcome addition to our campus community and will fit in nicely with our mission of forming and developing virtue in our student-athletes.”
