Texas Athletic Training Student Aides Honored

Four CFISD students joined an exclusive group of statewide recipients of the Texas State Athletic Trainers’ Association (TSATA) All-State Academic Achievement Award, presented at the Greater Houston Athletic Trainers’ Society (GHATS) 2016 Student Athletic Trainers Workshop on Jan. 9 at Tompkins High School in Katy.

In order to receive the award, students must be graduating seniors, maintain an overall grade-point average of 92 or above, be in good standing as an athletic training student and be of good moral character.

Two Cypress Woods High School students, Kyndall Soukup and Joi Samuels, earned the award.

“I am proud of Joi and Kyndall for achieving academic all-state recognition,” said Louie Villarreal, Cypress Woods athletic trainer. “They have worked hard in and out of the classroom to receive this. We have great athletic trainers in our program and I am appreciative to work with them.”

Cypress Springs senior Darian Gray also achieved the TSATA recognition. Panthers’ athletic trainer Kim Faterkowski praised Gray, a K-level student, for her involvement in many on- and off-campus activities.

“Darian is a perfect example of what you can achieve when you work hard in and out of the classroom,” she said. “I couldn’t be more proud of Darian’s academic all-state recognition. She is one of the many student athletic trainers that are on the PROWL at Cypress Springs.”

Cypress Lakes High School senior Raabia Syed was CFISD’s fourth recipient of the award.

“Raabia is an outstanding student and we are proud of this achievement she has earned,” said Alain Dorval, Cypress Lakes athletic trainer. “Raabia is an outstanding student and a role model to others in our program.”
