Sibrel Named Head Athletic Trainer, Gillespie and Kleber Join Staff

UVa-Wise announced the promotion of Dana Sibrel to the position of Head Athletic Trainer and the addition of Rachel Gillespie and Francis Kleber to the athletic training staff.

Sibrel will enter her fourth year at the College this fall after spending the last three years as an assistant athletic trainer at the school. A native of Cannelton, Indiana, Sibrel obtained a bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Indiana State University before adding a master’s degree in health promotion from Concord University.

In addition to overseeing athletic training efforts for all 13 programs offered by the College, Sibrel will serve as the primary trainer for the sports of volleyball and baseball. Prior to coming to UVa-Wise, she worked with the volleyball, men’s soccer and baseball programs at Concord. Certified in the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Health Professions, she is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, Virginia Athletic Trainers’ Association, West Virginia Trainers Association and Mid-Athletic Trainers (District 3).

Gillespie comes to UVa-Wise after completing her master’s degree at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma. While there, she worked with the school’s football, softball and women’s basketball programs.

A member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, the Edgewood, Ohio native is also an American Heart Association BLS Provider. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Miami University (Ohio) in 2014.

Kleber recently completed a year stint with the New York Jets of the National Football League where he assisted with preventative and rehabilitative services, worked closely with baseline concussion testing, used advanced hydration strategies using various products and assisted with digital weight charting and wellness review programs.

Kleber obtained a bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Rowan University in 2014 before adding a master’s degree in exercise and sport studies from William Patterson University in 2016. The Beach Haven, New Jersey product is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and is certified by the American Heart Association in first aid, CPR and AED.
