Pair of Red Raiders Earn Promotions

Texas Tech Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine Grant Stovall announced the promotion of two athletic trainers on Friday. Drew Krueger was promoted to Head Football Athletic Trainer, while Raymond Champagne II was named Associate Football Athletic Trainer.

“After working two full seasons with our football program, both Drew and Raymond earned the opportunity to receive a promotion,” Stovall said. “Both are hard workers, trustworthy and have earned the respect of our team physicians, coaches and student-athletes.”

Krueger, a native of Rothschild, Wis., begins his third season with the Texas Tech football team. He arrived at Texas Tech prior to the 2014 season after serving one year with the NFL’s New England Patriots (2013-14) and two years as a graduate assistant football athletic trainer at the University of Oklahoma (2011-13). Krueger, who has served two other stints with the New England Patriots, graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2008 with a degree in kinesiology and earned Master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (athletic training, 2011) and University of Oklahoma (human relations, 2013).

A native of Houma, La., Champagne will also begin his third year with the Texas Tech football team in 2016. A 2012 graduate of Louisiana State University with a kinesiology degree, Champagne completed his master’s degree in education at the University of Nebraska in 2014. Champagne worked in the athletic training offices during his stints at both Nebraska and LSU, working with football, women’s basketball, and track and field. He also completed two summer internships with the NFL’s Houston Texans. Champagne was honored with LSU’s Doc Broussard Athletic Training Student of the Year award in 2011-12.
