Associate head athletic trainer Gretchen Buskirk has been selected as a University of Toledo College of Business and Innovation Student Pacemaker Award winner for the 2015-16 academic year. Student Pacemaker Awards are presented to UT College of Business and Innovation graduate and undergraduate students for their outstanding academic achievement, University and community service, and leadership.  Buskirk will receive the award at the annual Pacemaker Awards banquet held at historic Inverness Club this Friday night, April 29, 2016.

“I am extremely humbled and honored to receive this recognition from the College of Business Administration Engagement and Leadership Council,” said Buskirk. “I would like to thank my family, friends, and colleagues for their support and encouragement throughout my coursework.  I would also like to thank the professors within the College of Business and Innovation for sharing their knowledge, leadership, and passion. I look forward to merging my new knowledge and skills into my clinical practice as an athletic trainer here at UT.”

“We are all extremely proud of Gretchen,” said associate athletic director for sports medicine Brian Jones. “She has set a fantastic example for other young professionals and has proven with hard work and dedication, anything is possible.”

The Richmond, VA native is in her seventh year at UT and her third as the Rockets’ associate head athletic trainer. Buskirk works with the women’s soccer team, and she also supervises the graduate assistant athletic trainer in the sports of baseball, softball and women’s swimming and diving.
