Weyer Named Assistant AD for Sports Medicine at Lander University

Adam Weyer has been named Lander University’s Assistant AD for Sports Medicine it was announced Tuesday by Athletic Director Jeff May.

Weyer, who joins Lander after working a combined 10 years as head athletic trainer at nearby Erskine College, replaces Kent Atkins, who is now the Bearcats’ Assistant AD for NCAA Compliance and Internal Operations. Weyer also served a combined six years as an athletic trainer in Major League Baseball’s Cincinnati Reds’ and Arizona Diamondbacks’ organizations.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine from Erskine in 1999 and his master’s in Health and Exercise Science from Auburn University in 2001. While at Erskine, Weyer was the director of the Athletic Training Education Program and taught four to six hours of classes each semester.

In addition to being NATA certified, Weyer is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Trainer’s Association and the South Carolina Athletic Trainer’s Association.
