McMurry University Athletics has announced Charity McCright as its new head athletic trainer. McCright – a native of Comanche, Texas – returns to her home state after most recently spending four years at NCAA Division II Central Washington University.

At CWU, she was primarily responsible for volleyball and softball as an assistant athletic trainer. McCright earned her bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Texas Christian University in December of 2007 and a master’s in kinesiology from TSU in May 2011.

McCright served in the U.S. Army for a total of 14 years (two years active duty and 12 years in reserves) from 2000-14, working in mental health and behavioral health. McCright served two tours of duty in Iraq. She received the Army’s Commendation Medal (twice) and Achievement Medal, as well as the Reserve Components Achievement Medal and Reserve Medical Command Commander’s Coin of Excellence.

McCright will begin her duties with McM on July 18.
