Athletic Trainer Accompanies Student-Athletes to NCAA Leadership Forum

Macalester College sophomore volleyball player Clara Baumann (Wausau, Wis./Wausau East) and junior men’s basketball player Jordan Black-Matthews (Dallas, Tex./Covenant Christian) attended the NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum, held in Phoenix, Ariz., Apr. 7-10. Head Athletic Trainer Paula Natvig, who is the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) coordinator at Macalester, accompanied the two student-athletes at the forum.

Created in 1997, the NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum provides attendees with the opportunity to improve their leadership skills, explore the relationship between personal values, core beliefs and behavioral styles, and learn about the NCAA’s divisional perspectives and the valuable role of the SAAC.

Baumann and Black-Matthews were among 20 student-athletes from MIAC member institutions. Student-athletes representing Division I and II conferences and Region 4 of Division III were included in this year’s forum.
