Head athletic trainer Chad Mahaffey announced the hiring of Marian Dougherty as Southern Virginia University’s newest member of the athletic training staff.
“When it came down to it, I felt like she was not only the best fit for Southern Virginia, but also that she was the most qualified and best prepared for our position,” Mahaffey said. “She is a great addition to our staff and will fit in perfectly with our department, our athletes, and university families with ease. We’re very excited to have her here.”
In June 2015, Dougherty graduated with a BS in Athletic Training from Brigham Young University. While attending BYU she worked with the softball and track and field teams as well as with the Mountain View High School wrestling team.
Marian grew up in northern Virginia and has always had a passion for sports. She was familiar with Southern Virginia before applying and is ready to contribute to the university.
