Athletic Trainer Gutfriend Latest Plaza of Honour Inductee

A star receiver and Saskatchewan’s longtime athletic trainer are the 2016 Plaza of Honour inductees. Matt Dominguez and Ivan Gutfriend will be the 121st and 122nd to enter the Riders Plaza of Honour during the induction dinner on September 16th. Dominguez originally signed with the Riders in May of 2003 after spending time with the Denver Broncos. The Georgetown, Texas product played 59 regular season games, all with Saskatchewan, finishing with 250 catches for 3,741 yards and 19 touchdowns. Dominguez was a member of the 2007 Grey Cup winning Rider team and was a West Divison All-Star in 2006.
Gutfriend began his time with Saskatchewan in 1978 before retiring after the 2015 season. The Leader, Saskatchewan product spent 38 seasons with the Roughriders worked 668 regular season games, 27 playoff games, and six Grey Cup games. Gutfirend was named the head athletic trainer in 1981 and held that same role for the 1989,2007, and 2013 Grey Cup winning teams. Gutfriend also owns two undergraduate degrees from the University of Saskatchewan.
