Athletic training services expanded to 3 schools

Mary Rutan Foundation grants provide benefits

As the fall school sports season kicks off, Indian Lake, Benjamin Logan and Bellefontaine City Schools will benefit from Mary Rutan Hospital’s provision of athletic training services for their student athletes at no cost to the schools.

Providing more than $150,000 to the area schools, MRH will be the official sports medicine provider for each school. The schools will also have access to the hospital’s concussion clinic, orthopedic and comprehensive therapy services.

Mary Rutan’s athletic training service program began in 2013 with two area schools. At that time, funding was done through a 50/50 cost sharing of salary and benefits for each trainer.

The Mary Rutan Foundation provides funding through a grant to each school district to assist in the cost reduction for the schools.

“As the sole community hospital, we work hard to provide quality services to meet the health and wellness needs of our community through convenient, easy access of care,” said Tammy Allison,  vice president of community relations. “We are committed to this program and hope to grow our program and eventually provide support to all Logan County schools in the coming years.
