The ECHL announced on Wednesday that Scott McLay of the Alaska Aces is the 2015-16 recipient of the ECHL Athletic Trainer of the Year Award, presented by CCM Hockey.
The winner is determined in a vote of the league’s equipment managers and athletic trainers. CCM Hockeyrecognizes the efforts and accomplishments of ECHL equipment managers and will award McLay a CCM gift card in honor of his achievement.
The 2015-16 season was McLay’s first with the Aces. Previously, he spent almost two years as the head trainer for the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League. A native of Kitchener, Ontario, McLay also has two years of experience at Lake Superior State University as a trainer for hockey, softball, tennis and golf, as well as three years with the ECHL’s Las Vegas Wranglers.
