Lane Named Athletic Trainer at Shepherd

Shepherd University director of athletics B.J. Pumroy announced today that Shatora Lane has been named head athletic trainer. Lane replaces longtime trainer Gayle Conner, who retired after a 31-year career at Shepherd, including 26 years as the school’s first full-time trainer.

Lane has been an assistant athletic trainer at Shepherd since October 2014.  She has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Shenandoah since June 2014.

Lane has previous experience at Winchester Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine. She also worked as a student trainer at Shenandoah University, Randolph Macon Military Academy, and Westfield High School.

Lane earned her bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Shenandoah University in 2012 and added a master’s degree in athletic training in 2014. She gained an Award of Academic Excellence in Kinesiology and the Outstanding Graduate Award School of Athletic Training honors at Shenandoah.

Lane was a four-year player on the Shenandoah softball team. She gained All-Conference honors and served as team captain for the Hornets.
