Neal named UALR head athletic trainer

Micheal Neal has been named UALR’s new head athletic trainer Monday. Neal has spent the past four years on staff as an assistant athletic trainer.

“I would like to thank Chasse Conque for entrusting me with the healthcare of such great student-athletes,” Neal said in a news release. “To be able to come back to the place that sparked my passion for sports medicine is unbelievable and rewarding. “

Neal joined the UALR training staff in July 2011 after spending the previous three seasons at Belhaven University in Jackson, Miss. His primary duties have included providing coverage for the women’s basketball, soccer and men’s and women’s golf teams.

A four-year letterman on the Trojan men’s basketball team from 1997-2001, Neal graduated from UALR in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in health science. He went on to finish his athletic training degree at the University of West Alabama. While at West Alabama, Neal spent two summers (2006, 2007) as an intern with the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League.

A native of Jackson, Miss., Neal came to Little Rock from Lanier High School, where he helped the Bulldogs to a Mississippi 5A State Championship.

Neal is certified by the NATABOC and licensed in the state of Arkansas.
