A new face is prowling the sidelines at Kankakee Valley sporting events.
Vanessa Ramirez, the new athletic trainer, took over after the departure of long-time trainer Lacey Runyon.
Ramirez may be a familiar face to many in the area. She grew up in Winamac and graduated from North Judson – San Pierre High School in 2009. In high school, Ramirez played volleyball, swam and dove, and also played on the softball team.
Ramirez is also the fiancé of Kankakee Valley alumnus Jake Birky, whom she’ll wed in October of this year. Birky is a basketball coach for the Kougars and was a standout athlete on his own in high school.
