South Carolina Beaufort Hires Strohecker as Head Athletic Trainer

The University of South Carolina Beaufort athletics department and Hilton Head Regional Healthcare have hired Dan Strohecker as the head athletic trainer for Sand Shark athletics.

Strohecker will provide athletic training coverage for all nine of USCB’s intercollegiate athletics teams, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation and documentation, as well as practice and competition coverage. He will work hand in hand with team physician Dr. Doug Scott and Orthopedic Associates of the Lowcountry, who provide sports medicine services through a partnership with USCB.

“I am truly thrilled to become a part of the USCB Athletics family,” Strohecker said. “During the interview process, the athletics administration, coaching staff, and team physician immediately made me feel comfortable and impressed me with their professionalism, attitude, and passion for serving the student-athletes at USCB.”

Strohecker comes to USCB from Savannah College of Art and Design, where he was the lead athletic trainer for five programs. His sports medicine experience also includes internships with the New York Jets and Philadelphia Wings. Strohecker earned his undergraduate degree in Athletic Training from Temple University and a Master’s degree in Exercise Science from California University of Pennsylvania.

“We couldn’t be more pleased to add Dan Strohecker to our staff,” said Quin Monahan, USCB’s director of athletics. “It became apparent early in the interview process that he would be an outstanding addition to the Sand Shark family. His passion and dedication to the athletic training field will be a tremendous asset to all of our programs and student-athletes.”

Among Strohecker’s areas of expertise and interest is injury prevention, and he plans to work with all of USCB’s coaches to develop sport-specific training plans to reduce injuries.

“I look forward to furthering myself professionally and taking the next step in my career while helping to grow the sports medicine department and continue to improve the care delivered to Sand Shark student-athletes,” Strohecker said. “This is an exciting time to be a Sand Shark, and I can’t wait to get started.”
