Jasper Athletic Trainer Promoted to Associate Athletic Director

Manhattan College Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Marianne Reilly has announced the promotion of Douglas Straley to Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Athletic Performance as of June 1.

“Doug is a veteran and experienced professional who will play a critical role in developing our new approach to health care, injury prevention and the athletic performance of our student-athletes at Manhattan College,” said Reilly.

With the promotion, Straley will now oversee both Sports Performance and Sports Medicine at Manhattan.

I am grateful to Marianne Reilly and the college administration for this new opportunity,” said Straley. “During my time at Manhattan, I have always placed the student-athlete experience and welfare as my top priorities. Our student athletes deserve both premium care in Sports Medicine and Athletic Performance.  I will do all that I can to ensure that our student-athletes have the best experience possible in the athletic training room as well as the strength and conditioning room. I am very excited that this new role will broaden my ability to serve our student athletes. Go Jaspers!”

Straley, who is in his 13th year at Manhattan, was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine in August 2009, after previously serving as the Director of Sports Medicine. A member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Straley is certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist, as an Athletic Trainer, and in CPR and First Aid. In addition, he holds a certification in Functional Movement Screens and is trained in the Graston Technique.
