Jessica Achatz Named Assistant Athletic Trainer at Utah State

Utah State head athletic trainer Mike Williams announced Tuesday the hiring of Jessica Achatz (pronounced Ah-ck-ets; rhymes with Rockets) as an assistant athletic trainer for the Aggies.

Achatz, who officially began her duties on Monday, Aug. 17, will work primarily with Utah State’s cross country and track & field programs, as well as provide support for the Aggies’ 14 other NCAA Division I programs.

“We are always excited to add people who have different experiences,” Williams said. “Jessica is a welcomed addition to our sports medicine program and we are looking forward to learning from her. Her knowledge and skill set will be a valuable resource for our student-athletes.”

Achatz comes to Utah State after spending the past two years at Adams State (Alamosa, Colo.), where she earned her master’s degree in exercise science in 2015. The native of Rocky Ford, Colo., was a graduate assistant trainer with the Grizzlies, working with the men’s soccer program for two years, women’s basketball program for a year and men’s lacrosse program for a year.

“I’m pumped to be at Utah State,” Achatz said. “Mike and his staff have been awesome so far and I just can’t wait to get started and work with this great group of coaches and student-athletes.”

Prior to earning her master’s from Adams State, Achatz worked for an orthopedic company. She earned her bachelor’s from North Carolina in 2010.

Achatz graduated from Rocky Ford High School in 2006, lettering in both basketball and volleyball for the Meloneers. During her senior season, Achatz earned all-state accolades in basketball.
