Cray Promoted to Acting Director of Sports Medicine

Kelly Cray has been named the Acting Director of Sports Medicine following the retirement of Dave Matthews at the end of last spring. Cray, a 24-year veteran, has served as the Associate Director of Sports Medicine since 2013 and was named an associate athletic trainer in 2001.

“I’m honored to be named the Acting Director of Sports Medicine at Middlebury,” said Cray. “My experience here has been invaluable and has well-prepared me to supervise the department. I’m looking forward to working with our staff as we continue to serve the athletes of Middlebury.”

Cray is a licensed athletic trainer in the State of Vermont and is also a CATZ coach. He is an orthotic specialist who specializes in biomechanical evaluation, orthotic casting and constructing orthotics. He has also served on the Middlebury College staff council.

Cray joined the staff in 1992 after doing an internship at Middlebury with the football program in the fall of 1991. The New Jersey native majored in athletic training at Castleton University, earning his degree in May of 1992.
